We are looking for a Risk Officer in a hybrid 3/2 work schedule capacity. This role focuses on identifying operational risk elements in an Enterprise System Implementation. Operational risk is inherent in all bank products, services and activities, and the effective management of operational risk is a fundamental element of effective enterprise risk management. The Operational Risk Oversight (ORO) department within Operational Risk Management is hiring a new team member to help strengthen the foundation of operational risk management by verifying the first line of defense properly mitigates risk and is operating as intended. This role sits in the second line of defense and independently identifies and assesses operational risks and reports the results to leadership and management committees.


This position can be located in Utah or Texas and has a hybrid 3/2 work schedule.  Responsibilities include monitoring the quality of risk management activities, influencing, and challenging material risk decisions and ensuring alignment with the Company's risk appetite, as it relates to the implementation of our Core Banking Platform.  


Ideal candidates will have the skills and experience necessary to: 


  • Responsible for identifying, evaluating existing and new risks in the large system implementation.
  • Partner with program team(1LOD) to identify risks and implement appropriate controls.
  • Assess existing controls, work with management to comply with testing requirements.
  • Review and validate first line of defense governance documents, policies/procedures, and reporting.
  • Perform issue/observation analysis related to regulatory concerns, audit findings and self-identified issues.
  • Perform targeted reviews to ensure risks are appropriately identified and mitigated.
  • Assist in developing periodic risk reports for senior and executive management.
  • Provide support and guidance in the development and implementation of future state controls, key risk indicators, other metrics, and reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.




  • Requires a bachelor’s degree with business or IT and 4+ years risk management auditing or IT project management related experience.
  • A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.
  • Desired project or program management skill sets in large system implementation.
  • Knowledge of operational risk management in system implementation, risk and controls implementation, or testing practices preferred.
  • Knowledge of various bank/government regulatory requirements and processes.
  • Must have excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of department specific computer applications MS Office and software.
